WAKATERE CANOE CLUB SEASON OPENS TO-DAY The Wakatere Canoo Chili will ifs postponed official opening at Narrow Neck this afternoon. Tho first race for tho Richardson Cup, for which 20 boats have entered, will bo sailed over two rounds of tho club courso, starting and finishing closo off tho beach. Tho raco will start at 3 o'clock, and should finish about 3.45 p.m. A second raco will bo sailed, starting at 4.15 p.m., for n prize presented by Mr. Wilkinson. Tho courso for both races will bo from starting lino off centre of Narrow Neck beach round beacon off Bhore, thence round red buoy off Cheltenham Beach, and return round mark at starling line, twico round. Tho entries are:—(ll Wiriloa, N. "Winer: (2) Wainui, B. Croyden; (3) "VVahine, A. Williamson; (5) Wakaterc, R. Hunt: (11) Winiata. R. Grainger: (8) Windward. B. Bell; (9) Wniata, B. Wings, G Hodgson; (11) Waiola. West and Rainey: (12) Waimea, I. Mason; (13) Whakawhero, S, Richardson; (14) Wanderlust, J. Hotchkiss; (15) Wanderer, Amodeo and Lethaby; (1G) Weona, Perry and Grut; (17) Whirlwind. J. Brooke: (20) Wairere, R. Beeson; (21) Wai-iti, Parker and Gemmell; (23) Wairiki, O. Probert; (25) Waimarie, W. Bond; (30) Wasp. D. Blake. All boats will Btart from scratch in both races. Mr. J. Hislop will bo judgs>. and Mr. W. A. Wilkinson starter and timekeeper. Tho three-flag system of starting will bo used. MODEL CLUB'S RACES Tho Orakei Basin Model Yacht Club will open its season this afternoon, when two get"-' '1 hnndicaps will bo sailed for club bo"i ■. and a visitors' raco if sufficient entri are received. 'i o Ponsonby Model Yacht Club will continue its racing, during the week-end in St. Mary's Bay, when four events will bo decided. Tho 4-foolers' handicap will start at 2.30 p.m.. and 3-footers at 2.45 p.m. Tho challenge race for the Winter trophy, held by Bullett. will be sailed on completion of the handicap race, and the race for the Victoria trophy, held by Ida. after the 3-footers have finished.
