PROSPECTORS' LUCK

LODE FOUND BY CHANCE On a lease on the Cracow gold field, Queensland, Messrs. Brennan and Hankswell recently sank a shaft to 39ft., hut without success. They abandoned it, and another shaft, was begun near by. When the new shaft reached 25ft. it was found necessary, owing to a shortage of timber, to take slabs and supports out of the old shaft. When this was done a small landslide disclosed a lodo of auriferous quartz in the old shaft. A week later a company took an option over the lease for £20,000.
