FLOWERS THAT BLOOM

QUEENSLAND PAINTINGS s « At the annual exhibition of the. Royal Queensland Art Society this year exhibits were more numerous than ever, nnc'l there was a big increase in the number of artists exhibiting. Strangely enough,' there was a preponderance of paintings of flowers; yet though the brilliant scarlet Poincietta has been adopted a:3 Queensland's national floral emblem, not one of these decorative shrubs appeared in any picture.
