ELAM SCHOOL OF ART
PREPARATION OF PREMISES OLD GRAMMAR BUILDING Permission to have certain alterations made in the old Grammar School building was sought in a letter from the director of the Elam School of Art, received at a meeting of the council of Auckland University College yesterday. The chairman of the council, Sir George Fovlds, said he had already pointed out that the necessary legislation transferring the property to the joint ownership of the college and the City Council had not yet been passed by Parliament. Although the College Council was not in a position legally to authorise alterations, it had no objection to the board making the place suitable for its temporary occupation, and suggested that it obtain a similar understanding from the City Council. The chairman's reply was approved.
