BALL AND BRIDGE DRIVE The. Society for tii« Prevention of Cruelty to Animals concluded its Animal Welfare Week with a very successful ball and bridge drive held in the Interhousa Girls' Club rooms on Wednesday evening. The. president, Mr. J. B. Donald, received the guests, assisted by Mrs. M. I Arthur, Mrs. H. N. Beckett, Mrs. G. i Kernot and Mrs. J. F. Tyler. '.I he ball committee comprised Alesdames A. C. Chaney, Brownlow-Bourke, A. farmer, Spitz and Miss Campbell. The rooms had been charmingly decorated with Chinese lanterns and lavender and cyclamen coloured ' festoons. During the evening a. minuet was given by the pupils of Miss Jean Home, and Miss Marjorie Brook and Miss Doris McGowan, pupils of Miss Cecil Haines, also gave some dances. Tango and quick-step exhibition dances were given by Mr. E. Prendergast and Miss P. Pattern. Among those present were:-—Mrs. J. B. Donald, who wore floral silk with ermine stole; Mrs. D. Pool, green lace; Mrs. Alderson, embroidered Oriental lace with flame coatee ; Sirs. H. 1.1. Blooinfield. gold and wine chenille georgette and black velvet coat; .Mrs. W. G. Clowes, lemon and brown crepe do chine, and brown and beavor wrap; Mrs.. Gavegan, black ring velvet and gold brocade bridge coot.; Mrs. Bond, floral ' georgette; Mrs. B. W. Pollock, midnight blue georgette; Mrs. Edwards, blue satin and lace; Airs. Ball, black and white georgette; Mrs. Colin Campbell, peach angel skin and ring velvet; Mrs. P. Martin, gold lame frock; Mrs. A. G. Maughan, brown embossed georgette; Mrs. J. Paterson, black satin beaute; Mrs. F. Western, cinnamon brown embossed velvet; Airs. M. Spitz,, ivory beaded georgette ; Mrs. R. L. Melville, wine satin beaute; Mrs. Marquet, black satin beaute; Mrs. W. McKenzie Jeffrey, beige georgette and lace; Mrs. Mervyn Hart, while georgette and white fur coatee; Mrs. F. S. Tyler, black sprigged taffeta : Mrs. H. N. Beckett, shell pink georgette; Mrs. Outrim Horspool, black lace. Miss Hart, wore Burgundy georgette with diamante trimming; Miss Si. Darling, floral green taffeta with Carrickmacross lace; Miss F. Murray, blue georgette with blue lame coatee : Miss Campbell, flame georgette; Miss P. Holderness (Hastings), floral organdie; Miss Barbara Stedman, white angel skin; Miss Marjorie Dryden, maize chenille; Miss June Dunald, floral georgette: Miss Ethel Duncan, periwinkle blue velvet; Miss Eileen MacCormick, figured georgette; Miss T. Donald, brown jace; Miss Helen Jackson, blue organdie; Miss Bunty Mahon. black satin; Mis* Jean MacCormick, primrose ninon; Miss E. AT. Duncan, black Chantilly lace; Miss R. Goldberg, black satin: Miss J. Sommerville, pink georgette and gold lace overdress; Miss B. Halliwell, flame satin; Miss G. Endean, gold lame; Miss Molly Young, pink and blue floral chiffnn; Miss A. Newton, jade green floral ninon.
