NEXT MONDAY'S PROGRAMME

The best programme presented to followers ot boxing in Auckland for years will be staged at the Town Hall next Monday night under the control of the "Northern Boxing Association. Harry Johns and Archie Hughes will meet in a contest for the professional light-weight championship of the Dominion, a title at. present held bv Johns. Both boxers are well known lo the Auckland public as fast and willing workers, and the bout should be a particularly bright one. The winner will be matched against Kid C'omo at a later date.

The 6econd professional match will he between Bill Sullivan and Petty-Officer Arthur Firth, of 11.M.5. Dunedin. In his first CO bouts Sullivan was beaten only once, and since then he lias gained a decision over Alan Campbell,- holder of the heavy-weight championship of New Zealand. while lie also drew with Jack O'Msllev. light-heavy-weight and heavy-wejght champion of Australia. Firth won the light-lieavy-weight championship of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines when in England in April last. These two heavy-weights should provide a very interesting contest. DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIPS

AUCKLAND TEAM DEPARTS The members of the team to represent Auckland at the New Zealand amateur boxing championships to be lield r,t New Plymouth to-night, to-morrow night and on Thursday evening, left for .the southern centre yesterday. The team comprised F. Bruno, fly-weight; C. Crorile. bantamweight; C. Manson, feat her-w^ighx; W. Purdie. lisrht-weigrht: R. Martin, welter-woieht: T. Shorter, middle-weight: and P. McCarthnev. light-lieavy-weight. Mr. W. Dervan accompanied the team as manager and Mr. 11. Donovan as trainer. "Messrs. C>. Bush, president of the Northern Boxing Association, and N. McLean also went to New Plymouth, where they will act as judge and referee respectively at tlie championship meeting.
