FIREMAN'S LONG SERVICE
the te aroha brigade SUPERINTENDENT HONOURED ; [FROM OCR OWN correspondent] TE AROHA, Monday On the completion of 25 years' -service as superintendent of the To Aroha Fir® Brigade, Mr. P. Pilkington was tendered a complimentary social on Saturday even* ing by the citizens of Te Aroha. The Mayor, Mr. I?. Coulter, presided over a gathering of 250, which included many visiting firemen, the .superintendent* of the Hamilton, Paeroa. Morrinsville,Tauranga, Waihi and Thames brigades,; Mr. B. C. Bobbin, Mayor of Tauranga, and Captain Watts, of Auckland. Captain Watts presented Mr. Pilkington with the Fire Brigades 1 Association's. Gold Star, and presentations of a canteen of cut. lery from the Te Aroha Fire Brigade and a chiming clock from the Te Aroha Borough Council were also made. Many other honours were presented to the members of the brigade by Mr. Coulter, including five-year 'medals to-Firemen H. Manning, A. Whatford, N. Corcoran and Dr. W. R. Lawrence, honorary surgeon.
