ACTION BY LAW SOCIETY
CASES AGAINST SOLICITORS THREE STRUCK OFF ROLLS [by telegraph—press association] - WELLINGTON. Friday Tho Court of Appeal this afternoon deal't with applications of tho New Zealand Law Society for orders striking Norman Harrison Graveston, solicitor, of Christchurch, Matthew Trust Stowarl, barrister and solicitor, of Auckland, and Peter Gilfedder, barrister and solicitor, of Invercargill, off the rolls of barristers and solicitors of the Dominion. These applications were not resisted. The orders asked for were made, and costs, £ls 15s, and disbursements, were allowed to tho Law Society in each caso. AN APPLICATION ADJOURNED SUSPENSION IN MEANTIME [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] WELLINGTON, Friday Tho Court of Appeal dealt with an application by tho New Zealand Law Socioty for disciplinary action to Reginald Bernard Hill, barrister and solicitor, formerly practising at Gisborno. The practitioner was represented by counsel, who said that no allegations of dishonesty were made against his client, tho complaints being merely as to his drinking habits. Hill was a capable practitionor, but apparently from a doctor'* evidence ho was unable to control a craving (or liquor. Counsel submitted that tho public would bo adequately protected if some lesser penalty than striking tho practitioner off tho rolls was inflicted. The Court adjournod tho Law Society's application for two years. An order was mado for suspension of the practitioner in tho meantime, liberty being reserved to him to apply for removal of tho suspension.'
