MOTHERCRAFT SOCIETY

ANNUAL MEETING [FROM OCR OWN CORRESPONDENT] LONDON, Aug. 12 More than v a hundred supporters and mothers who have been associated with the Mothercraft Training Society assembled for the annual meeting of the society. The meeting was held in the new Princess Elizabeth Hostel, and afterwards the company was entertained at tea on the fine lawn, and the rooms in Cromwell House and in tho new building were open for the guosts to inspect. Lady Galway (chairman of the executive committee), proposing the adoption of the report, said that in spite "of the difficult times the position of the society was relatively a strong one. Tho mothers who came as outpatients had a great desire to support the work by which their children had benefited, but that particular department was not self-sup-porting, and were it not for other branches of the work it would not be possible to continue it. During the year there had been 6229 outpatient attendances, of which 618 were new cases. Another extension was a very interesting one and gave the greatest satisfaction. This was the Truby King Clinic at Cardiff, started by Mrs. Langlcy, a former pupil of the Mothercraft School, who married and settled in that city about five years ago. She started in a small and informal way by giving advice to mothers in her locality. She became the friend and confidant of the mothers. Now they had founded a regular clinic carried on in much the same way as the society had started in Trebovir Road. Lady Galway also announced that Mrs. James Corrigan had made a donation of £IOCO to the 1 * society in memory of her late husband. Dr. R. C. Jewesbury, seconding the adoption of the report, said they had now completed the 14th year of the society's worl In 1920-21 thev had 2274 attendances. In 1931-32 they had 12,868. If they added the attendances at Walton Street they had a total of 19,107 attendances. New cases in 1920-21 numbered I 398. This year they numbered 3000.
