SITE OF CATTLE YARDS FURTHER EFFORT FOR REMOVAL [by telegraph —OWN correspondent] KOTORUA, Thursday The Rotorua Borough Council, at its meeting last evening, received a reply from the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. A. Hamilton, in connection with representations made to him during his recent visit t<? Rotorua in regard to the removal of the cattle yards from the railway station to a site on the Wairoa The Minister replied that the chairman of the Railway Board had notified him that the estimated cost of £IOOO of moving the cattle'yards to a site on the sanatorium reserve was not justified in view of the decreased number of stock being handled at Rotorua.

The council decided to approach tho Railway Board, pointing out that the council" considered the reserve site most suitable and that further consideration should be given to the matter. " It was decided to take action under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1920, to include in the borough the aerodrome area and adjacent land, and that the Department of Internal Affairs be requested to arrange for an amendment to the Rotorua Borough Act, 1922, to allow for the inclusion in the borough of portion of the cemetery "reserve recently taken over. It was decided that the Valuation Department be requested to arrange for >a revaluation of the borough during the next financial year and that preliminary arrangements be put in hand immediately. The question of allowing ratepayers on relief works to do extra work to pay off their rates was held over pending the preparation of a report showing the property held by relief werkers and the amounts of rates owing.

The council decided to give favourable consideration {o a request from the Rotorua. Gymnastic Club for providing a suitable site for the erection of a building for the use of the club.
