TWO RECORD RUNS

CANADIAN ATHLETES HELPED BY STRONG WIND (Received September 4, 5.5 p.m.) TORONTO, Sept. 3 The world's record for the 100 metres sprint was broken to-day by Miss Stella Walsh, who won the event at the Canadian national exhibition track and field meeting at Toronto. Her time was 11 4-ss. Miss Hilda Strike (Montreal) was second and Miss Nellie Halstead (England) third. Miss Walsh's record is not likely to be recognised as there was a strong following wind. Ralph Metcalfe won the 220 yards race in 19 4-ss. This is a new world's record, but again the following wind probably will prevent its recognition.
