THE WAIPIATA LOADED NIGHT WORK ON LINER After being delayed at Auckland on Friday night owing to tide waterside workers refusing to work overtime and complete the loading of the Waipiata, the vessel sailed for southern ports at mid-day on Saturday. The loading was completed during Saturday morning. The Waipiata was the first Union Company steamer for whi.;h waterside labour wa s required to work overtime at night since the reduction of wages came into force. Although the mc>n refused to work overtime on the Waipiata, labour was engaged loading the New Zealand Shipping Company's motor-liner Rangitata during Friday from 6 o'clock to 10 o'clock at night.
