Mainly fair to fine in east coast districts. Temperatures will become much colder generally. North-westerly winds, strong to gale, backing temporarily to south-west. GOVERNMENT REPORT The Government meteorologist reported last evening as follows Another rather deep westerly depression, the last of the present series, is now crossing New Zealand. Indications arc. for strong northwesterly winds at first, except in the far south, but a change to strong southerlies moving northward over the Dominion during the next 24 hours. Seas becoming rough on the west coast and south of East Cape; moderate north of East Cape. Tasman Sea: Strong southerly winds, to gales, and rough seas. Weather squally, with showers in most districts, heavy in parts of the eastern and southern districts; hail in places and snow on high levels. Temperatures becoming cold; improving later on the west coast, of tho South Island.
