BANANA VALUES ADVANCE HIGHER RATES FOR APPLES 'j Values for ripe repacked bananas advanced about 7s a case to up to 25s at tho city markets yesterday. Higher prices also ruled for some varieties of apples, Delicious realising 6s to Bs, Doughertys 3s to 5s 6d, Winesaps 6s 6d to 7s 6d, and Sturmers 7s to 7s 6d. Although pears were still dull of sale, rates advanced slightly at 6s to Bs. Increases also occurred in prices for Island tomatoes, being 2s a case firmer at 10s to lis, and mandarins, up 3s a case at 10s to 13s. Oranges and lemons were unaltered, grapefruit and poonnan oranges being slightly cheaper. There were practically no changes in tho vegetable section. There are large supplies of cauliflower, cabbage, swedes and all other vegetables in season. Eggs are still low at lOjd a dozen for first guide. TE AWAMUTU QUOTATIONS The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, reports that at the Te Awamutu stock sale on Thursday a medium entry of all classes of fat cattle, including a few penß of or beef, made prices fully up to this week's improved Frankton rates. A large number of buyers were keenly interested in a full entry of dairy cattle, consisting principally of heifers. Improved values wer;© obtained at the beginning of the sale, but slackened to market values toward the end. Primp ox beef made £5 Is to £6 ss; medium quality. £4 78 to £5; very prime cow beef, 6d to £6 12s; medium quality, £4 5s to £5 ss; lighter, £3 5s to £4; light, £1 18s to £2 10s; good store cows, to £1 7s; boners, to 555; yearling heifers, £2 lis to £3 ss; best dairy heifers, £7 10s to £9; medium, £6 to £7 ss; others, £4 5s to £5 15s; good cows r £6 to £7 15s. Several pens of hoggets met with an unusually spirited demand. Very prime quality made 12s to 13s 8d: medium sorts, 9s 2d to 10s fid; others, to 8s 9d. There was an exceptionally large yarding of weaners, stores and porkers, and a fair entry of baconers. Prices were slightly lower than late Frankton rates and competition was rather dull, owing, no doubt, to the large entry. There was a keen demand for two pedigree Tamworth sows, which realised £1 15s each. Heavy baconers made £1 13s to £1 lGs; lighter, £1 5s to £1 8s: porkers, £1 to £1 2s; good stores, 15s to ISs; inferior, 12s to 10s; weaners, to 10s.
TRICES AT WAINGAEO T)ie Farmers' Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports that at the AVaingaro sale on Thursday an average xarding of cattle was penned. Prices were on s par with outside sales. A line of 70 wellgrown forward-conditioned Shorthorn, Hernford and Polled Angus steers failed to reach the vendor's reserve. Two-year Polled Angus steers made 355; 18-months Shorthorn stew's. 20a; empty Shorthorn heifers, two-years, 30s to 355; in-calf Shorthorn heifers, £2 17s 6d; empty store cows, to 365; cows and calves. 20s; service bulls, £3 10s; Jersey dpiry cows, £4 10s to £5. / MERCURY BAY AND COROM AN DEL The Farmers'_ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, reports having held sales at Mercury Bay and Coromandel during the week. All classes of cattle met with good competition and values ruling outside were maintained. CLEARING SALE AT KARAPIRO The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, Hamilton, reports that there was a large attendance of buyers at a clearing sale on W ednesctay .on Mr. M. McKenzie's' property at Xarapiro. when the whole offering of 120 cows and * number of sundries was sold. Competition was spirited throughout, good quality cows in particular realising slightly improved rates. Best dairy cows made from - £7 los to £9; good sorts. £C 15s to £7 10s; medium cows, £4 5s to £6: others, to £4. Medium draught horses sold from £l3 to £l9 under very keen demand.
