CADET TRAINING

CAMP AT NARROW NECK •/ . _ GRAMMAR SCHOOL BOYS About 110 non-commissioned officers and Jadet gunners from the Auckland Grammar School cadet battalion are to go into a voluntary camp at Narrow Neck tomorrow afternoon. There will be 50 gunners from the school artillery section and 60 junior non-commissioned officers from the infantry companies of the battalion. Great keenness and enthusiasm has been displayed by the boys in arranging the camp. The idea of holding it originated with them, and they are paying for all their rations and the wages of their civilian cooks. Captain G. T. Lee, of the Auckland Grammar School, will be in command, and associated with him will be Captain C. T. Gillespie, M.C., of the Royal New Zealand Artillery, and Lieutenant R. S. Jtidson, V.C., of the New Zealand Staff Corps. Staff instructors will be supplied from the New Zealand permanent staff and the Royal New Zealand Artillery. A church parade will be held on Sunday morning at the Devonport Presbyterian Church. A varied syllabus of training has been arranged with the idea of making the work as interesting and progressive as possible. Reveille will be at 7 a.m. and after a cup of coffee and a biscuit, and before breakfast half an hour will be devoted to physical and recreational training. Major K. J. Dcllow, Y.D., the commanding officer of tho school battalion, will pay a daily visit of inspection to the camp. A feature of the camp will be that, as far as possible, the training and camp organisation is to be done by the non-commissioned officers and cadet gunners. The social side of the camp will re ceive every attention, and also the health of the boys. The camp will end on Saturday, September 10.
