Thursday Steady progress is being maintained with land settlement and development, according to a statement by the Hon. E. A. Ransom, Minister of Lands, at tho Paimerston North Chamber of Commerce annual dinner this evening. Tho Minister said that in the past three years, 2080 Crown sections had been selected, including 247 holdings from purchased estates. A total of 953 holdings hail been selected for tho first time, comprising 200,000 acres. Tho expenditure to date was £194,000. It was estimated that when tho work was completed 275 new dairy farms would have been provided. That there was a demand for land was clearly established by all recent ballots. Unfortunately, tho area of Crown land availablo was now very limited.
