FORMER MILLIONAIRE MR JOHN DEMAREST (Received August 31, 7.5 p.m.) NEW YORK, A us. 30 The death occurred at Minneapolis today of Mr. John Demarest, who, 40 years ago, was America's leading manufacturer of carriages. He became a millionaire. Mr. Demarest refused to turn to the manufacture of motor-cars as did the Studebakers, and ho died blind and impoverished in a back room of a tenement house.
