POSTAL OFFICER RETIRES
PRESENTATION FROM STAFF After nearly 39 years' service in the Post and Telegraph Department, Mr.. W. J. McKay, supervisor of the telegraph delivery branch at the chief post office, Auckland, has voluntarily retired on superannuation. Prior to coming to Auckland about eight years ago Mr. McKay was stationed in Wellington, Oamaru, Christchurch and Dunedin, having charge of the telephone exchange in Dunedin. At a staff farewell gathering yesterday afternoon the chief postmaster, Mr. S. M« Harrison, paid a tribute to Mr. McKay, who, he said, had shown a marked aptitude in training the joungest sectioa of the department's officers, whose welfare had always been of great concern to him. On behalf of the staff Mr. Harrison presented Mr. McKay with a handsome crockery cabinet. In returning thanks Mr. McKay referred to the 10/nlty and efficiency of the staff with which he was directly associated. He said they had a record of service which would be difficult to surpass.
