SUCCESS OF STUDENT
AUCKLANDER AT CAMBRIDGE Advice has been received in Auckland that Mr. A. H. McDonald, M.A., of Auckland, has won high distinction at Cambridge University, England. Mr. McDonald was, on the result of the college examination in June, 1931, ' elected a Scholar of Clare. This year he sat for the classical tripos, part 2, and was placed in the first class. On the ?esults of this examination he has been awarded a university grant* from the Craven Fund to do research either at Cambridge or in Germany.
Mr. McDonald will be remembered as one of the most distinguished of recent graduates at the Auckland University College. After winning the senior scholarship in Greek he proceeded to classical honours, obtaining a first class in Latin as a single subject and a first class in. Greek as a single subject, a performance unique in the history of the University of New Zealand, He was born in Dunedin in 1908 and is a son of the Key. .W. McDonald, until recently minister of the Epsom Presbyterian Church.
