WITH THE FLEET

PRINCE AND HIS BROTHER

HALF-HOLIDAY FOR PERSONNEL

British Wireless RUGBY, Aug. 15 The Prince of Wales and Prince George reached Corfu, Greece, in the Imperial Ainvays seaplane Satyrus at 8 p.m. on Saturday to join the British Mediterranean Fleet, which had arrived at Corfu that morning from Cattaro, Dalmatia. The reception programme was postponed until yesterday, and the Princes dined quietly on the flagship. Later, the Fleet gave a searchlight display. Yesterday morning the Princes deceived a Royal Saluto and attended divine service. Later they received a visit from the Greek Minister of Marine and other officials, and went ashore in the Admiral's barge to return the calls at the Prefecture. The Princes received a warm welcome from a large crowd, the road being strewn with leaves and oleander flowers. The Princes this moi-ning inspected several ships of the Fleet. Afterwards, the Commander-in-Chief, Admiral Sir Ernie Chatfield, signalled to all units that by the Prince of Wales' orders the ships' companies were to " make and mend " this afternoon and to " splice the main brace" this evening, which, in landsmen's language, means a half-holiday for 30,000 officers and men in the Fleet, followed by a double issue of rum tonight. It is said that this is the first occasion since the Armistice that the order to " splice tho main brace " has been given in the Mediterranean Fleet. The ships will leave Corfu to-morrow and undergo exercises on the way to Malta, where it is intended that the Princes' brief stay shall be informal and SOUTHERN TEXAS SWEPT | quiet.
