Following is a. list of yesterday's transactions on New Zealand Stock Exchanges. In the second column is given the return, based on the last annual dividend, from investment at tho quoted price. In tlje case of Government and other redeemable securities no return is given, in view of tho new method of quotation, but tho months in which interest is due aro shown. In calculating the return on shares in companies which pay their dividends outside Now Zealand exchange rates, being liable to fluctuation, have not been taken into consideration.

REDUCTION OF CAPITAL PALMERSTON NORTH COMPANY Barraud and Abraham, Limited, merchants, Palmerston North, have reduced their capital from £160.000 in 20,000 shares of £8 each to £80,009 in 20,000 shares of £4 each. * ADELAIDE STEAMSHIPS INCREASE IN DIVIDEND A dividend of 2j per cent has been declared by the directors of the Adelaide Steamship Company, Limited, for the half-year ended June 30. It is payable oil September 13. With tho interim dividend paid in February last the distribution is 4£ per cent for the year, as against 4 per cent, in the previous year. ELECTRIC INDUSTRY HUGE CANADIAN CAPITAL Capital invested in tho electric industry in Canada stands at about £250,000,000. It has more than doubled in 10 years.
