SOUTH ROAD AT HOROTIU

NO IMMEDIATE ACTION

TE AWAMTJTTJ, Tuesday

A decision to take no immediate action to straighten tlio Main South Road at Horotiu wa s made at a meeting of the Waipa County Council yesterday. The council received a letter from the Auckland Automobile Association stating that the bends in the "road at Horotiu were dangerous to traffic. The county engineer, Mr. J. TV. Civil, said the bends were not really dangerous, and could bo safely negotiated at a speed of 30 miles an hour. An improvement in the alignment of the road was provided for in the council's scheme, and the necessary land had been acquired to enable the load to be straightened, but the work could not be undertaken at the present time.
