PROMOTIONS ANNOUNCED NEW MANAGER IN LONDON MR. ROBERT MILL RETIRING [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] Tuesday Mr. Robert Mill, manager of the Loudon branch of the Bank of New Zealand, is retiring, and he will he succeeded by Mr. D. F. Reid, manager of the Wellington branch. Mr. B. A. Moore, at present subinspector attached to head office and formerly manager at Blenheim, succeeds Mr. Reid as manager of the Wellington branch. Mr. A. G. Henderson, sub-inspector at Wellington, will succeed Mr. Moore. Mr. .G. E. Murphy, formerly accountant at Auckland, but now on the head office inspecting staff, lias been appointed a sub inspector. All the changes will not be given effect to at once as some time will be required for the officers concerned to make themselves familiar with the duties of their new positions. Mr. Mill joined the staff of the Bank of New Zealand in June, 1885, at Dunedin and after service in the South Island became accountant at the Dunedin branch, whence lie was transferred to Wellington, in 1910. In that year he was sent to London as assistant-manager. Mr. David Firth Reid, present manager of the Wellington branch of the bank, was born at Arrowtown, Otago. The Reid family had migrated from Stronsay, Orkney Island, in 1864, and had gone to the lake country. Mr. Reid, one of a family of eight, joined the Colonial Bank as a lad at Queenstown in November, 1894. When that bank was taken over by the Bank of New Zealand in 1895, Mr. Reid was taken over with others of its staff and ho is now the youngest of the five surviving officers of the old Colonial Bank. He remained at Queenstown in the service of the bank of New Zealand, and in 1901 was transferred to head office, Wellington. Mr. Reid was appointed manager at Dargaville in 1914, and subsequently was manager at Feilding and Palmerston North before being appointed manager at Wellington, a position ho has occupied for the past six years. He is an ardent fisherman and golfer.
