The loan is to repay existing • loans maturing in April next. Ihe principal items of the maturing loans are as follows: - Electric light works, £299,833; tramways, £102,000; waterworks £72,835; sewers, £14,639: streets and bridges, £146,792. Against the total of £644.600 there is a sum available from the sinking fund of £125,000, leaving a balance of £519,600. The expenses of raising the loan are estimated at £oo,'Hal, bringing the total to £553,000.
