MANUKAU RECLAMATION

ADVERSE VIEW EXPRESSED Tho proposal to reclaim a large area of the upper reaches of tho Manukau Harbour, which recently formed tho subject of an adverse report by the Auckland Harbour Board's engineer, Mr. D. Holderness, was criticised by members of the One Tree Hill Borough Council at a meeting last evening, when the Onehunga Borough Council brought the scheme forward. Tho Mayor, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, said the work appeared inopportune, as it would mean expense to tho local bodies concerned. Tho Harbour Board's engineer had reported that tho schemo was nob practicable and tho council should accept his guidance. It was decided to take no action.
