YOUNG MAN'S EXPLOIT
MAGISTRATE IMPOSES FINE
Pleas of guilty were entered by Richard Henry Bodkin, a young man, when charged in the Police Court yesterday with unlawfully interfering with a tramcar by releasing the air brake, and with being disorderly while drunk. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said accused, who was stupidly intoxicated, boarded a stationary tramcar in Customs Street West and released the air brake. The molorman, who was seated inside the tramcar, immediately went to the controls and prevented the vehicle from running across the intersection of Customs and Queen Streets. Accused had not previously been before the Court. He was liable to a fine of £lO. The magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, imposed a fine of £2 on the charge of interfering with the tramcar, and a fine of 10s on the disorderly conduct charge. Defendant was also ordered to pay 18s witness' expenses.
