"LAND-MINDEDNESS"
A PRESENT-DAY NEED FINDING WORK FOR BOYS A decision by the education section of the Auckland Boys' Employment Cornmitteo that tho only possiblo field at present for the substantial absorption of boys was on the land, was reported to a meeting of the executive yesterday. The president, Mr. N. G. Gribblo, presided. The committee expressed tho opinion that the process of placing boys on the land would bo hastened by developing "land-mindedness" among all sections of tho community. There was a veal necessity for convincing tho unemployed boy and his parents that brighter prospects attached to agricultural pursuits during the next decade than to city occupations. It was mentioned that instruction in what could be termed farm mechanics had begun with a number of boys at tho Seddon Memorial Technical College. Appreciation of the efforts of Mr. G. J. Park, principal of tho college, the board of managers and the Auckland Education Board was expressed.
