RACEHORSE DISPUTE
IMPERIAL FAME CASE QUESTION OF OWNERSHIP COURT RESERVES DECISION [BY TELEGRAHI —PRESS ASSOCIATION] HASTINGS, Wednesday Judgment was reserved in a case in which ownership of I lie racehorse Imperial Fame was in dispute. Tlic (.'use involved (lie seizure of the liorse by a bailiff under a distress warrant issued by Leonard Wilmot Howard against H. Corlett and another lo satisfy a claim for £134 15s. When the horse was seized, complications arose, il being alleged the borne bad been sold to Alfred Cecil Russell and therefore was wrongfully seized. The proceedings really concerned an inter-plea by the bailiff to determine ownership. Evidenco was given that Mrs. Corlett sold the horse to Russell for £4O on the evening of the day on which the warrant came into the hands of the bailiff, who, because of pressure of work, did not attempt. to execute it until (ho following morning, when ho found the horso bad changed hands. Russell claimed that ho made the purchase in good faith and denied that he knew the warrant was issued. Decision was reserved.
