COAL MINES IDLE

RENOWN AND PUKEMIRO TEMPORARY LACK OF ORDERS [BY TF.I.EGR.\rH—OWN CORRESPONDENT] HTJXTIA-. Fri3ay "Work was suspended at the Renown coal mine yesterday and the Pukemiro mine has not been working to-day. It is understood that both companies are experiencing a shortage of orders, which has made it necessary to suspend, work temporarily. It was stated in Auckland last evening that a falling off in orders for coal was affecting the working of the Waikato mines. The opinion was expressed that coal dealers whose 'stocks had been depleted during the recent coal strike had possibly over-ordered and were now overstocked. The stoppage of work was declared, to be temporary.
