WOMEN'S DIVISION
FARMERS' UNION A meeting of the Drury branch of the Women's Division was held recently, Mrs. Rankin presiding. Delegates wore elected for the next meeting of the Wailemata provincial council, and arrangements were made for the social evening to be held this month to raise funds for trie division. The library and exchange table proved quite successful and the roll-call, "Tho Household Task I Most Dislike," brought many humorous answers. A competition was won by Mrs. D. Bingley with Mrs. Sliarpe second. Mrs. E. Fielding gave a most interesting and instructive demonstration in the icing of a enko. The hostesses were Mesdames Rankin, Leggc, Colson and J. Cossey. TE AIIOHA • -The Te Aroha branch of the Women's Division held a meeting recently. Reports of the recent conference were read. A debate on "Should Husbands Help in the House?" by Mesdames Waugh and Donovnfi, created much interest, and tile, opinions of the members were asked. The general feeling was that euoh should shine irt their own sphere of work, but if occasion arose where a-wife required a helping hand, in the home, 'why should she not expect it when so many country women wero helping to earn the family living in the milking sheds. The branch is expecting a number of towns-women to join as associate members. TE AWAMUTU At a recent meeting of the To Awariiutu branch of the Women's Division the president, Mrs. F. J. Ryburn, presided over a very large atteudanco of members. A demonstration of making hearth rugs from sugar bags, also moccasins from feltand specially cured rabbit skins, was made by Mrs. Jenkins, of Pukeatua. Tho Mayoress, Mrs. 0. C. Downes, appealed for the sympathy and co-operation of the division with the Women's Institute in assisting in the relief of unemployment and necessitous cases, should need arise. WAIHI The president (Mrs. Drinkwater) presided over a well attended meeting of the Women's Division of the Farmers:. Union. Reports from the South Auckland provincial council, and of tho conference held in Wellington, were read by the delegate (Mrs, Drinkwater). The bring-and-buy stall 'was a great success, good business being done to swell the division funds.
