NORTHCOTE COMMITTEE The report of tho Plunkct nurse submitted to the monthly meeting of the Northcote committee stated that there had been a slight improvement iji tho prevalence of colds and similar complaints and the general health of the babies was now more satisfactory. Visits during July to the Northcote rooms totalled 193, comprising 68 infants, 96 adults and 29 older children. In addition, visits to homes included 25 old cases and four new cases. The president, Mrs. A. Campbell, who presided, stated that during the month classes' on "babycraft" were, started for the Northcote and Birkenhead Girl Guides and the Northcote nurse, Miss J. R. Campbell, was giving a series of seven lectures. The girls would then go to the Karitane Hospital for a number of demonstrations to qualify for the badge for babycraft. The services were welcomed in an appreciative vote of thanks c>f Miss Jean Stewart as voluntary transport officer at Northcote. The president explained that tlie Plunkct nurse was met at the wharf on the first' Tuesday in each mojith and driven by motor-cau to the, homes it was necessary to visit at Northcote, and was also ..similarly met on Monday in order to facilitate giving -lectures to the Girl Guides. The- gift oT cot quills was gratefully acknowledged from' Miss Ruth Adams, of ; princes Street. These articles were distributed by the nurse in necessi tous cases.-'--A vote of sympathy in her bereavement was passed to Mrs. Morrison, a member of the committee, at the opening of the meeting, . those present standing in silence. The president stated that a wreath had been forwarded on behalf of the Northcote branch of the society.
