MOUNT ROSKILL DANCE

TO AID THE NEEDY A very successful dance organised by the Mount Roskill Welfare Association to raise funds for the assistance of the needy in the district was held in the Crystal Palace, Mount Eden, on Thursday evening. The dance hall had been most attractively decorated for the occasion with ferns and wattle, the lighting with its alternating colour effects shedding a soft diffused glow over the dancers with a vepy pleasing effect. Excellent dance music wa{ played by Mr. Parker's orchestra. A particularly enjoyable feature of the evening was the singing of Mrs. Gladys Stormont and Mr. Robert Simmers, both in solo numbers and duets. This was very much enjoyed by the large gathering of dancers. The supper arrangements for the dance were in the hands of the social committee. The tables had been very attractively arranged with bowls of .Iceland poppies and the room decorated with coloured streamers, bowls of golden wattle and fern. The hostess was Mrs. McCullough, who wore a frock of black Chantilly lace over pink satin with a coatee of floral brocade. Comprising the committee were: Mrs. W. H. Parkinson, who wore a frock of black lace and coatee of ring velvet and coloured relief; Mrs. J. Donald, black and chenille coatee with gold relief; Mrs. O'Donnell, flame georgette and ring velvet coatee; Mrs. J. Barclay, blue lace; Mrs. S. J. Schischka, pink embossed georgette; Mrs. C. Peck, cherry georgette and lace; Mrs. R. Tilsley, red satin beaute; Mrs. A. E. Overden, sunset satin beaute; Mrs. K. Boswell, black lace; Mrs. B. Herd, figured crepe de chine; Mrs. J.
