POLICE COURT NEWS
TWO MEN REMANDED FOUND IN SCHOOL YARD Admissions that they had been found by night within the enclosed yard of tho Napier Street school were made by David Newstead, aged 63, and Robert John Galbraith, aged 61, in the Police Court yesterday. Detective-Sergeant Kelly said the men. who had done no work for a considerable period, were found in a shelter shed in tho school grounds shortly before midnight oil Thursday. The gate was locked and they had apparently climbed over tho fence. The magistrate, Mr. W. R. McKean, remanded both men in custody for a week for a "clean up." A fine of £1 10s, in default seven days' imprisonment, was imposed on Joseph Manuel Ross, who admitted stealing from the Western Wharf a quajntity of coal, valued at 2s, the property of the Auckland Gas Company, Limited. Accused was also ordered to pay 9s witness' expenses.
