IMPERIAL AIRWAYS
GROWTH OF SERVICE . REASONS FOR POPULARITY COMFORT IN NEW LINERS : By Telegraph—Presß Association—Copyright (Received August 4, 5.45 p.m.) British Wireless RUGBY, Aug. 3 Imperial Airways between London and the Continent carried last month an average of 1300 passengers a week, compared with 30 at the inception of the service 13 years ago. The growth is ascribed to the comfort and silence of the new 60-seater air-liners and to the company's record for safety and punctuality. The route from London to Basle, via .Paris, has been shortened to hours. Figures for recent months show almost 100 per cent increase on last year. In July 5332 passengers were carried, compared with 2587 in July, 1931. The South African servico has proved so successful that it is to bo duplicated immediately.
