HARBOUR LIGHTS GUILD
Mrs. Preston Chambers presided over a large attendance of members of the committee of the Harbour Lights Guild, at tho "Flying Angel" Mission, yesterday. New members were welcomed to seats on the committee. Tho chaplain, the Rev. H. K. Vickerv, took the opportunity to thank the guild members for the wonderful work that they had done in the social life of the mission, and in raising money for the new institute and chapel. He mentioned that their next committee meeting would be held in the now buildings, and that the institute would be officially opened by Commodore Burges Watson, D.5.0., RJN., at a public meeting on Wednesday afternoon, September 7. A strong committee was formed to arrange a bridge drive on the opening niglit, and a danco, to which the Officers' Club has given its patronage, on the following Monday. These events would not only give subscribers an opportunity of inspecting the new buildings, but would make it possible to open tho institute free of debt. After the meeting the guild members inspected tho new buildings in Sturdee Street. The chapel, for which most of tho furniture has been promised, will be dedicated by the Archbishop of New Zealand, during Synod week. Efforts will bo made to have tho cadets' clubrooms completed early next year, when the GovernorGeneral will bo asked to perform tho opening ceremony.
