INFECTIOUS DISEASES
DECREASE LAST MONTH AUCKLAND HEALTH AREAS A decrease in the number of cases of infectious diseases notified daring July in the three health districts controlled from Auckland was shown in comparison with the figures for the previous month and for July last year. The total was 99, compared with 133 in June and 148 in July, 1931. In accordance with the position obtaining in recent months, diphtheria was the most prevalent disease in July, there being 32 cases reported, a decrease of 10 from the figure for June. There were 22 case? of tuberculosis, 16 being in the central Auckland area, 14 cases of enteric fever* 11 being in South Auckland, and 10 of scarlet fever. In the central Auckland district, there were 57 cases reported, the number including diphtheria, 17; tuberculosis, 16; scarlet fever, 6; and enteric fever, 3. There were 38 cases in including diphtheria, 13; enteric fever, 11; scarlet fever, 4; and tuberculosis, 4. Only four cases, two of tuberculosis and two of diphtheria, were reported in the ThamesTauranga area.
