DICKENS FELLOWSHIP

CHARACTERS IN COSTUME There was a large attendance at the meeting of the Auckland Dickens Fellowship last night on the occasion of one of the periodic costume evenings. The president, Mrs. Kenneth Gordon, prosided, and the programme was in charge of Miss M. Robinson. Numerous members appeared in costume representing characters from Dickens' work. A prize for the best representation was presented by Miss Robinson, the winner, selected by ballot, being Mrs. Rose, who appeared ae Mrs. Joe Gargery. The following sketches were givon:—"Rev. Mr. Chadband," Mr. J. E. Green; "Mdme. Hortense," Mrs. Kenneth Gordon; "Grandfather Smalhveed," Miss Haresnape and Mr. T. Vivian. The president announced that tho "Charles Dickens Cot," donated by the fellowship to the Auckland Hospital, had been installed in the Princess Mary annexe.
