Commercials recovered lid in dealing at 14s, holders asking 14s '2d for more, a riso of 3d on the previous day's closing quotation. Unions improved 9d to change hands at £/ and holders „lso closed firmer. Firm conditions continued to operate in insurance. New Zealands, which were quoted ex div. on 'luesday, 'had sale at 39s 9d, a reduction of only 9d on the last sale, which was cum idiv. Interest in loan and agency and showed signs of improvement. Golds-firough-Morts were taken 7d higher at. 225. In shippings Northerns made current rates in a deal at 6s 6d. Inquiry for general investments was firm at recent levels, but no requirements were satisfied. Mining business against registered an increase. Golden Dawns were placed twice 2d firmer at 4s 9d, and two parcels of Waihis were done unchanged at 15s 9d. Mount Lyells, in two transactions at 17s 6d, improved 2d.
