CABLE REPAIR WORK

RECORDER DUE TO-MORROW OVER THREE MONTHS ABSENT After picking up cable in Cook Strait, tho cablo steamer Recorder left Titahi Bay, Wellington, for Auckland at 2.30 o'clock yesterday morning. She is duo to-morrow morning. The Recorder has been absent from Auckland for over 3£ months, and during that period she lifted about 300 miles of the New Zealand end of the WellingtonSydney cablo and then . relaid tho cablo toward Muriwai. In addition, tho Recorder did a considerable amount of other work. The operations were very prolonged, owing to the work frequently being interrupted by stormy weather. After a short period in port, the Recorder will proceed to tho vicinity of Norfolk Island to carry out repairs to the Norfolk Island-Sydney cable.
