CAMPAIGN IN SAMOA SPECIALIST'S REPORT [FTIOM OL'U OWN CORRESPONDENT] SUVA, July 27 According to Dr. S. M. Lambert, who has returned to Suva, good progress is being made with the yaws campaign at present being conducted in Samoa by the New Zealand Government in conjunction with the Rockefeller Foundation. I)r. Lambert, a specialist in tropical diseases, attached to the Rockefeller 1' oundation, went to Samoa in April last to start tho campaign 011 its way and he stated that 011 this last, visit he found that good progress had been made. In fact, ho said that almost too much progress had been made, as- they had nearly run out of supplies, and further material had to be sent for hastily. In this short time, 85 per cent, of the population had presented themselves for treatment, which consisted of injections of organic arsenates. Dr. Lambert stated that the campaign .will continue for two years, at tho end of which time it is hoped that Samoa will be clean as regards this disease. Yaws is a form of skin disease which is prevalent' in tho Pacific, particularly among young children. Early next month Dr. Lambort will proceed to New Zealand to confer with tho medical authorities and will then proceed to Raratpnga to survey the position there. Owing to tho campaign carried out in 1925, following his former survey, Dr. Lambert says ho does not anticipate that conditions will be bad in that island.:
