NORTHCOTE HIGH SCHOOL
ACCOMMODATION QUESTION The Northcofe District High and Junior High School Committee met this week. Some time ago an application was made for additional accommodation for the secondary department. A reply from the Education Department intimated that in Consequence of the lack of permanent accommodation for secondary pupils, next year parents would be allowed to send their children to the grammar schools, provided there was sufficient accommodation at the city schools. The chairman, Mr. H. Shaw, said consideration would now have, to bo given to the probable effect of tlie opening of the Roman Catholic school in February. It was decided to convene a. conference of the associated commit tecs within the area to discuss t lie position. The Education Board notified payment of £2l 5s 011 a basis of 5s a head, in respect of the special capitation grant for district high schools, but it stated that next year only 2s 6d a. head would be available for the committees. It was decided to ascertain if this reduction was directed at district high schools only, or at all technical and secondary high schools.
