WELLINGTON HORSES

TRACK-WORK AT TRENTHAM GAY COURT'S GOOD GALLOP AUTOPAY AND NORMANDY The weather at Trentham on Saturday was flno after another heavy frost for tho final galloping of most of tho Wellington horses for Riccarton and Australia. Several other horses with early spring engagements were also worked fast. Tho outside of the course proper was used. Autopay (S. Wilson) was going easily at his own pleasure a length behind Solitaire 11. (W. 11. Jones) throughout seven furlongs in 1.31 \S-5, tho last half mile in 51 3-ss. Autopay never exerts himself in track trials. Gay Court (W. E. Shand) found the reluctant Prince Pombal (Loach) of no use whatever to him over the final part of sixfurlongs in 1.1) 3-5, coming homo the last half mile in 52 4-5s and fiinshing about eight lengths in front. Normandy (H. Hunt) bowled along from the seven fnrlongs to the half mile, and, picked up by Sage (N. S. Jones), came home from that point a couple of lengths in front of his companion in 52 l-ss. He registered 1.37 for the full distance. Gold Sand (Leach) and Colossical (C. Pritchard, junr.) wore well matched over five furlongs in l.§ 4-5, the last half mile in 535. Gold Sand finished a short halfhead in front. Tobaccoland (T. Young) ran six furlongs aloue in 1.21 3-5, requiring 52 2-5s for the last half mile. The Sun (Wilson) went seven furlongs in 1.35, tho final half mile in 54 2-ss. Stag Horn (J. K. Roberfson) and Miss Beatrice (I. Rohloil) sprinted a couple of furlongs down tho straight. Golden Horn (G. F. Dick) and Cape of Good Hopo (Shand) ran half a mile in 52 3-ss. Posy (Dick), St. Bernard (Leach) and Platter (Pritchard. junr.), ran three furlongs along the back. Posy finishing in front in 38 2-ss. Platter is T. Pritchard's Tea Tray— Lady Violet rising two-year-old gelding, Vivette (R. Morris) did a similar task alone in 43s easily. Bright Song (Wilson) ran a milo nicely m 1.49, taking 53 3-5s for the first half and 55 2-5s for the last half. Cape Fair (Shand) and Sir Pombal (Dick) ran half a milo in 52 2-ss. Gaysong (Shand) did a similar task alone in 51 2-ss. Cottesmore (Young) finished a head in front of Fairy Girl (Wilson) at the end of three furlongs in 395, both galloping very freely. Roynl Game and Black Mint, each with Rohlotf in the saddle, were separately schooled over the pony hurdles, then over the three schooling hurdles. Royal Game jumped cleanly and gave easily his best display to date. His only fault was to dip on landing over the second fence. Black Mint, although fencing with little pace on, also showed more stylo in his effort than ho did on previous occasions. Again he manifested a reluctance to cross tho second fence in the run.
