HERD-TESTING RESULTS
WHANGAREI ASSOCIATION SUCCESSFUL YEAR REPORTED [from oub own correspondent] WHANGAREI. Monday A successful year is recorded in the rt )ort of the chairman, Mr. fi. S. Tremaine, to be presented at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Group Herd-Test-ing Association next Saturday. Mr. Tremaine said the year had been completed with a small credit balance.' Economy had been carried out to the greatest possible extent without in any way reducing efficiency. Eighty-eight herds were tested with a total of 4572 cows, which was a decrease of 749 cows, compared with last season. From the production point of view the season had been moist satisfactory, as was shown by the association's average of 2471b. fat in 251 days, an increase over the best previous season of 2291b., in 239 days. There was an increase of 331b. fat above the 2141b. fat when the association was started four years ago. The highest average of herds of over 50 cows was gained by the herd of Mr. A. J. Matthews, Whangarei, with an average of 3371b. fat over 286 days. The highest herd under 50 cows was owned by Mr. H. Beaumont, Whangarei, with 3741b. over 288 days. The highest cow was owned by Mr. H. Beaumont, with 5601b. over Z56 days.
