JUDEA BOARD'S DISTRICT EXTENSION WORK PROPOSED [from our own correspondent] TAURANGA, Monday Estimates for tho current year were presented at a meeting of the Judea Drainage Board. It is proposed to strike rates totalling Is 7£d in the pound on tho unimproved value, as against Is 5 3-8 d in the pound last year. It was reported that considerable work was being done on tho lateral drains in tho board's area by the Public Works Department with relief labour. It was decided to continue negotiations with the Hon. C. E. Macmillan, Minister of Agriculture, with a view to raising a portion of the loan of £ISOO which was sanctioned by the ratepayers of tho Drainage Board's district some time ago. There is a large area of excellent dairying land in the district which would bo greatly improved by drainage.
