ENCOURAGEMENT PROPOSED SUGGESTION OF GALA WEEK [BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION] "WELLINGTON, Monaay Suggestions for increasing the interest in athletics were made at a meeting of the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association this evening. The suggestions included a proposal that a gala week should be held instead of the usual two days' meeting each time the New Zealand championships were held, and efforts made to encourage sports among school children and among Maoris. The suggestions were favourably received and will be considered further.
