FARM LESSONS IN SCHOOLS
MOVEMENT IN TARANAKI The rearing of pigs and tho keeping of bees, two important side-lines of farming in Taranaki, arc to bo added to tho farming instruction now given to children in tho Taranrtki primary schools. Messrs. Duncan Mackay and W. M. Dill Mackay, agricultural instructors to the Taranaki Education Board, hope to havo pig-rear-ing competitions in oporation in from 15 to 20 schools at an early date. This week will see the beekeeping classes in operation at three schools. Mr. 11. D. Maxwell, an apiarist of Tataraimaka, has prepared a year's scheme of work and lias volunteered to devote one and a-half hours a week for a year to instructional work.
