The literary circle of tho Rotoiua Women's Club held its afternoon reading for tho week at the home of Mrs. H. Bertram. Mrs. Bertram received the members wearing a frock of black geoigette and lace. "The Great Adventure," by Edward Arnold, was the play chosen, and the parts were taken by Mrs. Bertram, Mrs. W. S. Wallis, Mrs. Green, Mrs. J. D. Davys, Mrs. H. H. Davis, Mrs.Stewart, Mrs. A. Brown, Miss Gweneth La Trobe Hill, Miss Joan Hodgson, Miss Hazel Ford, Miss Joan Bertram. Bridge Evening. Tho nursing staff of King George V. Hospital gave a delightful bridge evening last week in honour of bister 0. Meehan. The function took place in he drawing room of the nurses' home, which was arranged with bowls of beautiful blue irises, camellias and berries. The matron, Miss A. 0. Searell, received the guests wearing a frock of gi ecu crepe de chine, while the guest of honour wore a frock of navy moire silk. Ino prizes were won by Miss 0 Shea 1, Mi. W. Currie 1, and Mr. W. The management of Brent's Bathgate House gave a most enjoyable dance lor their guests recently. The hostesses were Miss Moya Jones, who wore a froclc ot pastel-shaded floral georgette, and Miss Roma Steele, who wore Jemon taffeta. Those present included Mrs. Bayfield, Mrs. H. Bertram, Mrs. R. Old Pupils' Dance Most enjoyable was the dance which was held in the Majestic ballroom on Wednesday evening by the Rotorua liign School Old Pupils' Association. A very energetic committee had carried out the arrangements and their efforts had met with complete success. The hostesses were Airs. W G. Harwood, who wore dove grey and red floral ninon; Mrs. It. Bertram who was in black lace; and Miss E. Simmers in a frock of black and Chinese ed Georgette. The committee comprised Miss T Johnson, who wore emerald green lace; Miss N.
