WREATHS ON CENOTAPH
VISITORS' THOUGHTFULNESS FOOTBALLERS AND SCIENTISTS A wreath, accompanied by the inscription : "In memory of our dear comrades, who have crossed the line.—From the English Rugby League tourists, 1932,". was placed on the Auckland Cenotaph by Mr. G. F. Hutchins, manager of the touring English footballers, at noon on Saturday, in the presence of the members of the team. The other manager, Mr. R. F. Anderton, was also present. A wreath was also laid by Captain W. M. Carey, in command ol' the research ship Discovery 11., on behalf of the vessel's personnel. He was accompanied ty Mr. H. A. Horton, chief engineer. The visitors were welcomed by Sir George Richardson, president of the Auckland Returned Soldiers' Association, who thanked them for their thoughtfulness. Both Mr. Hutchins and Ctptain Carey said they felt it their duty to express H their appreciation of the part played by New Zealanders in war.
