GRANDMAMMA'S INSTRUCTIONS
PARSLEY FOR FRECKLES Great grandmamma's intsructions were to pick a handful of fresh young parsley and, using a handful of the leaves only, boil it for 15 minutes, making a teacupful of liquid. Set it back to cool, strain off the leaves, and bottle. Dab the freckles with a cotton wool pad every day. Brown spots are obstinate, and must be treated with patience and persistence. It has been found from the neat writings of an aged relative that the young women of the 'eighties and 'nineties put much of their beauty trust in roses, and tised them secretly in an unequal competition to prolong lovely looks without make-up. Red rose petals are wonderful, and you need as many as will be required to sponge up the juice of four fresh lemons and a teaspoonful of brandy. Soak the flowers for two days and then press the mixture through a fine sieve. This can be placed in a jar and used each night after washing in tepid water. Distilled rose water to-day is less expensive to buy than to make, and is a valuable ingredient in all beauty preparations.
