WAR MEMORIAL LIBRARY
A " bring-and-buy " sale in aid of the funds of the Mayoress' War Memorial Library League was held on Thursday in the supper room at the Town Hall. The function was opened by tlio Mayoress, Mrs. G. W. Hutchison, who remarked on the very low state of the league's funds at present. Items were contributed by Miss Dannet (of the Query Club) and Mrs. Harold King. Afternoon tea was provided by the executive and was in the charge of Mrs. E. MoNair's sub-committee. Various stalls had been arranged and were in charge of the following:—Produce and cake stall, Miss Phillips (St. John Ambulance sub-committee) ; fancy work, Mrs. A. Matthias (Civic League sub-commit-tee) • sweet stall, Query Club. Guessing competitions completed the programme. Miss Alice Basten assisted with the arrangements. Approximately £lO was taken during the afternoon. A bridge drive to be held next month is expected to augment, -the funds still more.
